Best and Top Places for Trekking and Climbing in Nepal.

Location :Solukhumbu

Ama Dablam (6812m.), one of the most stunning peaks in the world, lies in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The mountain derives its name from the glacier lying on its Southwest face. The glacier looks like a jewel box hanging on the neck of the mountain; hence the name Ama Dablam is derrived from literal meaning 'The Mother's Jewel Box'. The trek to Ama Dablam provides arresting Himalayan vistas of Everest, Makalu and Lhotse. Also, we will make our way up to Island Peak to be accustomed to the environment at higher altitude before climbing Ama Dablam. The usual way to get is from its south- west ridge which offers you to observe the beautiful panorama from Ama Dablam. What Ama Dablam lacks in height is compensated by technical challenges. Perhaps the trickiest part of the climb is a 15-meter vertical section, referred to as the 'Yellow Tower', just below Camp II which requires use of the Jamar and a foot loop.

The exciting trek in to base camp winds through the Sherpa homeland above Thyangboche monastery. The trail to Ama Dablam base camp branches off of the well-worn path to Everest Base Camp and follows the original line of ascent on the South West Ridge. The rocky trail becomes increasingly snowy nearing the approach to the summit of Ama Dablam. The route offers varied and sustained climb with reasonable level of difficulty. Three high camps are set up at strategic points. The climb is moderate up to Camp 1, then it gets challenging up along the narrow granite ridge. Negotiating pitches of steep ice and snow slopes, the route gets more technical from Camp 2. From Camp 3, skirt around the hanging glacier or the Dablam, cross snow arete (A sharp ridge) and bergschrund (A gap or crevasse at the edge) between ice cliffs, and scale the summit. Ama Dablam expedition is 30 days trip.

Among the major Annapurna Region trek, one of the amazing trek is the Tilicho lake trek. Tilicho lake is the only lake situated at the highest altitude in Nepal. Makalu is a little bit dangerous as well.   Its size alone is impressive, but its perfect pyramid structure with four sharp ridges makes this mountain all the more spectacular. Makalu is actually a double peak. The subsidary peak rising just north of the main summit connected by a saddle is called Chomolonzo (25,650 ft.)

It was in 1955, successfully climbed by French team. It is interesting to note that the summit ridge is the demarcation point indicating the border between Nepal on the Southern side and Tibet to the North. The 5 attempts were made before climbing this Mt. Makalu then only was succeeded in the final. The West Face of Mt. Makalu was successfully scaled in 1997. Kanchenjunga(8586 m)  is the 3rd highest peak in the world. Kanchenjunga falls under Kanchenjunga Conservation area. All the rules are set by KCA and permission for any activity done there should be provided by the KCA. The Kanchenjunga area has a profusion of high summits of which three are above 8,000 m. & 11 above 7,000 m.The normal route via North Col and North face is definitely the safest but it is technical climbing. It will definitely not be suitable for an inexperienced climber but it is a delight for technical climber. The scenery is phenomenal all the way from the Base Camp overlooking the Kanchenjunga glacier, Kanchenjunga I and Kang Bachen. The climb is challenging but very interesting. The most difficult section is to the North Col of about 500 m of mixed ice and rock climb, where our climbing Sherpas will establish fixed rope route from just above 6500 m to 7000 m on the Col, a bee-line to take gear up safely. Once on the North Col the climb is along the ridge and the North face. The climb becomes less technical but very exposed to the weather. From the Col the climb is typically done with 3 camps or bevvies moving up slowly to the summit.
